Présentation :

The recent years have seen the explosion of high-throughput neural recording methods: hundreds of individual neurons can now be monitored simultaneously using large-scale functional imaging or multisite electrode arrays. A comparable trend is observed in behavioral studies where new imaging technology produces high-resolution imaging of complex behaviors.
In order to extract meaningful information from these high-dimensional datasets, neurobiologists need to develop and use robust computational methods. This Summer school aims at addressing this need by offering theoretical as well as direct practical exposure to computational tools used in modern neuroscience to interpret high dimensional neurophysiological and behavioral signals associated to complex behaviors.

** GENERAL INFORMATION and GOAL OF THE WORKSHOP **

The objective of the First Workshop on Conceptual Desing for Internet of Robotic Things (CD4IoRT) is to foster the use of conceptual design in the Internet of Robotic Things (IoRT) domain. Thanks to the advantages brought into everyday human life, IoRT systems have emerged as key technologies with a wide range of applications, in many application domains, e.g., agriculture, manufacturing, industry, domotics, and health. However, the implementation and management of these systems require a broad set of skills. This knowledge gap can be closed by novel conceptual modeling and engineering approaches specific to these software systems. The workshop aims to be a point of contact for practitioners and researchers from Conceptual Modeling with other communities such as Software Engineering, Databases, Business Process Management, Distributed Systems, Formal Methods, and Information Systems where creating a dialogue centered on the development of scientific foundations in this topic. The workshop will foster the discussion of research works case studies, experiences, and industry showcases in order to set up joint activities and future research directions.

** LIST OF TOPICS **

We seek contributions covering all aspects of data modeling for IoRT data applications including, but not limited to, the following topics:

** SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS **

Submissions should present original works not currently under review or published elsewhere.

This workshop accepts research and industrial papers:
Regular: 10 pages max.
Short: 6 pages max (Demostration, Vision, and Showcase papers)

All accepted papers will be published in the conference proceedings and will be submitted for inclusion.

Papers should be submitted in PDF format using the EasyChair online submission system (https://easychair.org/conferences/overview?a=30545729). Authors should consult Springer’s authors’ guidelines and use their proceedings templates, either for LaTeX or for Word, for the preparation of their papers.

**** SCOPE ****
Database, information, and knowledge systems have always been a core subject of computer science. The ever increasing need to distribute, exchange, and integrate data, information, and knowledge has added further importance to this subject. Advances in the field will help facilitate new avenues of communication, to proliferate interdisciplinary discovery, and to drive innovation and commercial opportunity. Since 1990, DEXA has been an annual international conference which showcases state-of-the-art research activities in database, information, and knowledge systems. DEXA provides a forum to present research results and to examine advanced applications in the field. Authors are invited to electronically submit original research contributions or experience reports in English. DEXA will accept submissions of both short (up to 6 pages) and full papers (up to 15 pages including references and appendixes). DEXA reserves the right to accept submitted full papers only as short papers, in which papers describe interesting and innovative ideas which still require further technical development.
Any submission that significantly exceeds length limits or deviates from formatting requirements may be rejected without review.

Ces deux événements seront autour des multiples facettes de l’apprentissage distribué (efficacité, sécurité, enjeux autour de la protection de la vie privée, etc.).
Il s’agit de l’école d’été du GDR RSD (réseaux et systèmes distribués) et de deux journées thématiques sur les enjeux scientifiques, éthiques, socio-économiques de l’apprentissage distribué.
Les journées thématiques seront co-organisées avec la Société Informatique de France (SIF).

Les inscriptions sont désormais ouvertes mais la date limite d’inscription est le 15/07 !

Les prochaines journées de la SFCi (Société Française de ChemoInformatique) sont programmées les 5-6 octobre prochains à Caen.

L’objectif principal des Journées EDA est de fournir un forum pour la dissémination des réalisations de la recherche et de promouvoir des interactions et des collaborations dans le domaine des systèmes d’information décisionnels (Business Intelligence) et l’analyse des mégadonnées (big data analytics). Ces deux domaines poussent encore plus loin les défis scientifiques, par des données toujours plus multiples et complexes (big queries, big times series, …) dans des environnements de stockage toujours plus sophistiqués (les data lakes, en particulier) et tout en devant assurer une bonne compréhension des analyses possibles. Les 19èmes journées EDA “Business Intelligence & Big Data” se tiendront intégralement à Montpellier les 26 et 27 Octobre 2023. Nous invitons les chercheurs, les doctorants et les experts intéressés par ces domaines à présenter leurs travaux de recherche ou des applications développées autour d’originalités technologiques.

Cette édition se tiendra conjointement avec la 39ème conférence BDA « Gestion de Données – Principes, Technologies et Applications » (du 23 au 26 octobre 2023).

The ambition of SUMAC is to bring together researchers and practitioners from different disciplines to share ideas and methods on current trends in the analysis, understanding and promotion of heritage contents. These challenges are reflected in the corresponding sub-fields of machine learning, signal processing, multi-modal techniques and human-machine interaction. We welcome research contributions for the following (but not limited to) topics:

** Institut d’Automne en Intelligence Artificielle (IA2)
L’Institut d’Automne en Intelligence Artificielle (IA2) a pour but de proposer une école généraliste en intelligence artificielle, afin d’offrir un panorama des différentes sous-disciplines de l’intelligence artificielle et de leurs principales techniques.
Cette édition IA2 2023 concerne la gestion des informations et données hétérogènes et imparfaites. Il est bien connu que les industriels, ainsi que les institutions publiques, doivent de plus en plus faire face à une grande quantité d’informations/données de nature différente et issues de sources multiples. A côté de la notion de données, on trouve également des contraintes, des connaissances et des préférences qui sont souvent sous-exploitées dans des applications réelles.

Il est étalé sur 5 jours (du lundi 30 octobre au vendredi 03 novembre), est principalement composé de cours fondamentaux (les matinées) complétés par des exposés avancés (les après-midis) sur des sujets spécifiques. Le programme contient également des présentations sur des applications/études de cas/projets ainsi qu’une session spéciale, sous forme de posters et d’exposés courts pour les doctorants.
Les cours auront lieu en anglais.

IX Workshop on Symbolic Data Analysis – SDA 2023

Symbolic Data Analysis is an approach allowing to represent and analyse data with intrinsic variability, e.g. resulting from the aggregation of microdata. New types of variables make it possible to directly consider the variability associated with each unit, in the form of sets, intervals or distributions. Symbolic Data Analysis is suited to the study of large databases, making it possible to aggregate information at the desired level of granularity and providing methods for their analysis.

The 9rd Workshop on Symbolic Data Analysis (SDA 2023) will be held at CNAM in Paris, France, from November 2nd to 4th, 2023. The SDA 2023 workshop follows the spirit of the previous editions, and aims at being a forum where the symbolic data analysis community comes together to share research results and experiences.
This workshop invites oral presentations that contain recent developments, from a theoretical or methodological point of view, practical applications and new software tools.

The SDA workshops pursue to open the way to future cooperation between participants. Members from research teams and PhD students who recently became interested in the domain are especially encouraged to participate and share their experiences.

Humain et IA, travailler et apprendre en bonne intelligence

Résumé :
La société emploie désormais quotidiennement des outils reposant sur des techniques d’IA et réciproquement afin de perfectionner les techniques d’IA, un grand nombre de données en partie générées par l’humain sont nécessaires. Cet atelier a pour objectif de réunir les acteurs/actrices de la recherche et de l’industrie intéréssé.e.s par les enjeux écologique, sociétaux et éthique de la cohabitation entre humain et IA. Nous nous intéresserons notamment aux plates-formes de crowdsourcing, de sciences participatives ou d’éducation participative, qui préfigurent une forme de travail hybride entre humains et IA.

L’ atelier aborde plusieurs problématiques :
Comment tendre vers une association durable bénéfique et réciproque entre l’homme et la machine notamment quand les deux partis entrent en conflits ?
Comment permettre à une IA d’apprendre avec moins de données ?
Quels outils sont mis à la disposition de l’humain pour favoriser son travail voir son apprentissage dans ces conditions ?

Thèmes de l’atelier (liste non exhaustive) :
– Sobriété numérique (Collection et analyse de données en faveur de la sobriété numérique, réduction de l’emprunte CO2 de plateformes de crowdsourcing…)
– Modélisation des utilisateurs (ontologies de compétences, validation des qualifications, qualité des réponses, motivation, …) Apprentissage machine en présence d’humains (apprentissage supervisé interactif,
incrémental, apprentissage actif, …)
– Apprentissage Humain favorisé par le crowdsourcing ( Systèmes adaptatifs, Tuteurs ou agents intelligents, Personnalisation de l’apprentissage, Systèmes de recommandation, Modalités de collaboration …)
– Défis de l’interaction homme-machine dans les plate-formes (ergonomie, biais de comportement en présence d’IA, …)
– Ethique des plateformes (protection de la vie privée, transparence, équité, auditabilité, droit du travail, durée du travail, …)
– Modèles de description des tâches pour humains et machines (workflows, langage naturel, …)
– Interface Homme-Machine pour le crowdsourcing (visualisation des données de crowdsourcing, visualisation de collaboration, design de systèmes…)
– Infrastructures sous-jacentes (centralisée, distribuée, chiffrée, composition de plateformes, …)
– Fiabilité des plates-formes (satisfaction de bonnes propriétés, preuves, performances, respect de la vie privée,…)

Les soumission peuvent être écrites en français ou en anglais et de quatre types selon leur
état d’avancement :

résumés étendus de papier publiés (4 pages)
articles longs (maximum 12 pages)
articles courts (maximum 4 pages)
propositions de démonstrations logicielles (4 pages)

Les soumissions doivent être au format PDF et utiliser le format LaTeX RNTI. Les articles et résumés doivent être soumis via EasyChair.

Machine learning techniques are developing rapidly. After our highly successful 2021 meeting, “Machine Learning for astronomical surveys”, an avalanche of new data and an ever-growing use of ML in astronomical surveys clearly mandated a follow-up.

This year’s meeting follows the same format as previously: a series of invited summary talks, short and very lively contributed talks, posters and debates. Our aim is the same as before: to cast a critical eye on the application of machine-learning techniques in astronomical surveys, including field-level inference, likelihood free approaches, generative models.

The need for new data-analysis techniques for next-generation surveys is no longer in doubt, but the applicability of these techniques (often developed outside of astronomy) needs to be questioned more than ever. We aim to make this conference a forum for discussions on problems
and solutions in data analysis of astronomical surveys. We are also interested in emerging class of problems in astronomy that mandate an evolution of our data analysis techniques.

This time, to bring together as many people as possible, while limiting our carbon impact, this conference will be organised in two locations simultaneously, at the IAP in Paris and the Flatiron Institute in New York, with speakers and audiences at both sites. A professional production company will provide high-resolution live streaming video.

While the main conference and debates will be held simultaneously (in the afternoon in Paris and in the morning in NY), the time-shifted period (morning in Paris and afternoon in NY) will be devoted to in depth review talks by leading experts in the field including:

What is the impact of large language models in astronomy?
Is there truth in latent space?

These debates will be led by experts in machine-learning and/or surveys, with a wide range of views, which will certainly lead to lively discussions, including:
