Nous organisons un workshop sur la sparsification (simplification) de grands graphes et réseaux en conjonction avec la conférence FRCCS 2024 qui se tiendra à Montpellier. Nous souhaitons organiser un défi lors de ce workshop pour le meilleur sparsifieur sur des datastes ciblées.
Pour rendre ce challenge attractif, nous souhaitons pouvoir offrir un prix au gagnant.
Nous demandons une aide de 500 euros pour ce prix.

The aim of this workshop is to bring together researchers working on the broad theme of simplification of complex networks, and more generally graphs, through sparsification. This workshop aims to provide an opportunity for researchers from different communities to meet and discuss sparsification methods and their applications.

Learning-based models and approaches for graph sparsification

Sixième édition du Symposium MaDICS @ IUT de Blois

Présentation

La sixième édition du Symposium MaDICS aura lieu en présentiel à Blois sur le site Jean Jaurès de l’IUT de Blois les 29 et 30 mai 2024. Il a pour objectif de réunir la communauté MaDICS à l’occasion de conférences scientifiques invitées, de sessions dédiées aux Actions et Ateliers du GDR, mais également d’une demi-journée plus spécialement à destination des doctorants et jeunes chercheurs (cf Appel à posters)… et bien sûr de nombreux moments de convivialité !

Pour vous inscrire au Symposium vous devez vous inscrire à au moins une session (Action, Atelier ou Posters). Pour des raisons d’organisation, veuillez vous inscrire à toutes les actions et ateliers auxquelles vous souhaitez participer.

En espérant que vous serez nombreux pour partager ce moment ensemble.

10h00	Keynote Vincent Guigue (AgroParisTech) Modèles de langue: impact sur les systèmes d’information et évolution des directions de recherche (résumé) Résumé : L’IA générative impacte de nombreux domaines d’application en entreprise. En premier lieu, et surtout grâce à ChatGPT, perçue comme un formidable outil pour interagir avec les utilisateurs, l’IA générative offre également de nombreuses perspectives de généralisation et d’adaptation. Nous explorerons dans cette présentation les rouages des grands modèles de langue (LLMs en anglais), modèles fondamentaux de l’IA générative, leurs capacités à résoudre des tâches de plus en plus complexes, ainsi que leurs limites. Nous aborderons ensuite un point de vue d’utilisation des LLMs pour les systèmes d’information autour de la valorisation des données structurées (bases de données, graphes de connaissances, …) et l’exploitation d’outils externes/API pour la synthèse d’information. 13h45	Mise en lumière de travaux de Jeunes Chercheuses et Chercheurs Lucas Simonne (Ekimetrics) : Découverte de règles graduelles causales dans les graphes de connaissances (résumé) Résumé : Les graphes de connaissances, du fait de leur construction et de leur nature ouverte, sont souvent incomplets et erronés. Dans le but de nettoyer les graphes de connaissances, notamment pour faciliter leur exploitation, la fouille de règles d’association est une méthode bien établie. Dans cet exposé, nous montrons que l’interprétation des règles d’association peut être difficile, et introduisons le concept de règle graduelle causale. Plus particulièrement, nous présentons l’intérêt d’introduire le concept de causalité dans ces règles afin d’avoir des règles interprétables, définissons ces règles, et présentons des approches permettant de les découvrir dans un graphe de connaissances. Edwige Cyffers (INRIA) : Confidentialité différentielle pour l’apprentissage décentralisé (résumé) Résumé : L’apprentissage décentralisé permet à différents agents d’entraîner collectivement un modèle d’apprentissage automatique en échangeant uniquement des messages selon un graphe de communication, tandis que les données restent stockées localement. Si la décentralisation des données est souvent vue comme un gage de protection, nous montrons qu’elle n’est pas suffisante pour protéger les données efficacement. Pour limiter les risques, nous adaptons la confidentialité différentielle, traditionnellement utilisée dans le cadre centralisé, au cadre décentralisé. Nous donnons alors des résultats de performance et de garanties de la vie privée pour plusieurs algorithmes standards du domaine. Amphi 1

9h30	Présentation de Francesca Bugiotti (Centrale Supélec) Bio Named Entity Recognition using Deep Neural Networks and Large Language Models (résumé) Bio : Francesca Bugiotti holds a position as assistant professor at CentraleSupélec in Paris. She received her „Dr. Ing.“ degree in Computer Engineering in 2012, with a thesis on heterogeneity in databases. She worked as an intern and as a post-doc at Inria Saclay studying the problem of indexing RDF datasets in a cloud infrastructure and studying efficient data storage mechanisms for heterogeneous data in the cloud and joined CentraleSupélec in 2015. Her research activity focuses on heterogeneous data integration, big data, conceptual models, NoSQL storage systems integration, NoSQL data model characteristics and query expressive power. Résumé : Applying Transfer-Learning based on pre-trained language models has become popular in Natural Language Processing. In this research, we present a weakly supervised Named Entity Recognition system that uses a pre-trained BERT model and applies two consecutive fine-tuning steps. We show the results on large amount of old scanned documents and we show recent enhancements in our research showing how LLMs (Large Langage Models) can resolve entities originating from multiple data sources.
10h00	Présentation de Stefania Dumbrava (ENSIIE) Bio Property Graph Schema: Specification & Discovery (résumé) Bio : Stefania Dumbrava holds a position as maître de conferences at ENSIIE in Évry and is a member of the ACMES team of the SAMOVAR laboratory (Télécom SudParis, Institut Polytechnique de Paris). She earned a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Paris-Saclay University in 2016, with a thesis on formally proving functional properties of data-centric models inside a proof assistant. She worked as a post-doc in the LIRIS laboratory (Claude Bernard University) investigating topics concerning graph data views, summarization, and querying, as well as in the IRISA laboratory (ENS Rennes), studying the automatic derivation of static analyzers. Recently, she has participated in the design of formalisms for specifying property graph schemas and key constraints. Her current research activity focuses on the use of formal methods to increase confidence in the reliability of graph algorithms and systems. Résumé : Property graphs are becoming pervasive in various graph processing applications using interconnected data. Although they are widely used in several open-source and commercial graph databases, their schema definition however is not as well-understood as that of their relational counterparts. In this talk, we give an overview of recent work on specifying property graph schemas and on discovering their underlying structural concepts from heterogeneous real-world datasets.

14h15	Présentation de Emmanuel Amiot (chercheur en mathématiques de la musique) La déraisonnable efficacité de la Transformée de Fourier Discrète en théorie musicale (résumé) Résumé : La transformée de Fourier Discrète (DFT) des structures musicales a connu un développement remarquable au XXIe siècle. À ne pas confondre avec sa cousine la transformée de Fourier continue, vitale en traitement du signal, la DFT a révélé des significations musicales précises pour les diverses dimensions de ses coefficients et offert de nouveaux espaces de représentation pour accords ou rythmes. Mais est-ce juste l’efficacité d’un outil bien rôdé? Ou bien peut-on espérer trouver une meilleure méthode de décomposition des objets musicaux? Cet exposé parcourt ces questions et tente d’y donner une réponse définitive, grâce à un théorème élémentaire mais original, particulièrement approprié au contexte musical.
15h00	Présentation de Vincent Lostanlen (CNRS) De la diffusion en ondelettes aux réseaux de neurones multirésolution pour le traitement du signal musical (résumé) Résumé : Depuis environ dix ans, le domaine de la recherche d’information dans la musique (MIR pour music information retrieval) connait une transformation majeure, qui se manifeste par le développement d’algorithmes d’apprentissage profond (deep learning) ; en particulier, des réseaux de neurones convolutifs (convnets). Ces algorithmes peuvent être entrainés sur des données massives, parfois sans annotation experte, et sans autre a priori que la définition d’une fonction objectif. Dans cet exposé, je commencerai par expliquer certains des succès des convnets à partir des notions mathématiques d’équivariance et d’invariance. Ensuite, je signalerai une faiblesse des convnets ayant trait à leur complexité calculatoire et leur champ réceptif restreint. À partir de mon travail sur la diffusion en ondelettes (scattering transform), je montrerai que les similarités perçues de timbre et de texture peuvent être caractérisées efficacement sur des échelles multiples avec peu ou pas d’apprentissage. Je conclurai en présentant le projet en cours “Réseaux de neurones multirésolution” (MuReNN pour Multi-Resolution Neural Networks) dont l’ambition est d’offrir un modèle guidé par les données, efficace à l’apprentissage comme à l’inférence, et capable d’atteindre des champs réceptifs de plusieurs millions d’échantillons audio.

Nous organisons une session poster spécialement consacrée aux jeunes chercheuses et jeunes chercheurs souhaitant présenter leurs travaux en science des données et gestion de données massives. Ils auront ainsi l’occasion de rencontrer des collègues académiques et acteurs industriels intéressés par ces thématiques et présents lors de cette journée.

Soumission de poster

Pour soumettre un poster, il suffit :

d’être membre du GDR Madics (inscription ici)
de remplir ce formulaire de soumission de poster pour le ~~30 mars 2024~~ 10 avril 2024, même sans le PDF du poster, afin de pouvoir traiter les demandes de bourses.

Il est possible de réutiliser un poster en indiquant l’événement auquel il a déjà été présenté.

Bourses de mobilité

Le GDR MaDICS offre un certain nombre de bourses aux jeunes chercheuses et jeunes chercheurs présentant un poster, permettant de couvrir leurs frais de mission pour la participation à l’ensemble du symposium, selon les règles habituelles de la fonction publique. La demande d’une bourse doit être formulée via le formulaire de soumission de poster et avant le ~~30 mars 2024~~ 10 avril 2024.

La sélection pour les posters et les bourses sera faite selon l’adéquation des travaux aux thèmes du GDR et, pour les bourses, selon le nombre de demandes par laboratoire.

Les résultats seront diffusés le 17 avril 2024.

Dear colleagues,

We would like to invite you to the Grenoble Artificial Intelligence for Physical Sciences Workshop” (GAP2024) in Grenoble, France, from 29-May to 31-May. Registration is free but mandatory and can be done here until 15-May.

The workshop will explore the intersections between machine learning research and the study of physical systems described by systems of differential equations.

We expect to gather researchers from machine learning and computational physics and diverse application fields, in order to foster collaborations and strengthen connections within the scientific community, and in particular across the alpine arc.

Explicabilité et gestion de l’information (incertitudes/inconsistances) dans les données géospatialisées

La gestion d’informations et de données hétérogènes reste un défi dans de nombreuses applications. L’hétérogénéité renvoie à des informations de nature différente, tels que des images numériques, des documents structurés et non structurés, des cartes analogiques, des données incomplètes et non fiables et des connaissances (au sens large du terme) qui sont souvent sous-exploitées dans les applications réelles.

Le but de ces journées est de discuter des modèles et des méthodes pour la représentation, la complétion, la fusion, la réparation et l’interrogation des informations et des données hétérogènes, avec un accent particulier sur les données géographiques et spatiales. En effet, dans dans des villes en expansion, obtenir des informations précises pour enrichir les données SIG (Système d’Information Géographique) des réseaux urbains (par exemples des réseaux souterrains d’eaux usées et des eaux de pluie) est un défi à relever tant du point de vue recherche fondamentale que du point de vue recherche appliquée.

You are invited to attend a presentation by Professor Tommie Meyer (University of Cape Town, South Africa) as part of the monthly seminar organized by the EID team at LIASD, Université Paris 8. The seminar will be held at IUT Montreuil (Salle Visio)*, at 2:00 pm (Paris time).

The title of the talk is: Knowledge Representation and Reasoning: In the Age of Machine Learning.
Abstract: In this talk I’ll remind the audience that Machine Learning is one of a number of sub-disciplines of Artificial Intelligence (AI), and that it is important for the field as a whole to maintain and grow expertise in all aspects of AI. I will then proceed to practice what I preach by introducing Knowledge Representation and Reasoning as one of the pillars of AI. I’ll conclude with some suggestions on how Knowledge Representation and Reasoning can benefit from research in Machine Learning, and vice versa.

Bio: Tommie Meyer is the CAIR-UCT Research Chair in Artificial Intelligence, the director of the Artificial Intelligence Research Unit (airu.org.za) at the University of Cape Town, South Africa, and the co-director of the South African national Centre for Artificial Intelligence Research (cair.org.za). Prior to his appointment at the University of Cape Town in 2015 he held positions at the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research in Pretoria, South Africa, National ICT Australia (now Data61), the University of New South Wales in Australia, the University of Pretoria, and the University of South Africa. He is recognised internationally as an expert in Knowledge Representation and Reasoning. He is a SECAI Fellow (secai.org), a member of Council of the University of Johannesburg, a member of SAICSIT (saicsit.org), AAAI (aaai.org), the ACM (acm.org), and ASSAf (assaf.org.za/). He is one of only three South African Computer Scientists to have obtained an A-rating from the South African National Research Foundation.

Les graphes sont au cœur de nombreuses thématiques de recherche ou apparaissent spontanément dans des projets où on ne les attendaient pas. Le traitement de ces objets peut mobiliser plusieurs domaines de recherche tels que la théorie des graphes, la modélisation de données sémantiques ou dynamiques, le traitement de données définies sur des graphes ou l’apprentissage de données définies sur ou par des graphes. Cette école d’été s’adresse aux chercheurs débutants ou plus expérimentés en imagerie médicale, souhaitant approfondir leurs connaissances en apprentissage automatique et son application à de multiples problèmes dans ce domaine. Le programme inclut diverses présentations d’experts (15h au total) couvrant les bases de l’apprentissage automatique, les réseaux de neurones en apprentissage profond, de même que des sujets plus avancés tels que les modèles génératifs, l’adaptation de domaine, l’apprentissage faiblement supervisé et les modèles fondateurs. Les participants pourront également mettre en pratiques les concepts présentés à l’école grâce à 4 séances hands-on de 3h chacune.

This year’s edition of the Hi! PARIS Summer School will feature several tutorials on a wide range of topics in the domain of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science from different perspectives. These sessions are designed to appeal to a wide audience, including Master’s and PhD students, postdocs, academics, faculty members, researchers, and industry professionals who are looking to deepen their understanding of AI and Data Science.

Participants will have the opportunity to engage with two parallel tracks: ‘’Data Science for Business and Society’’ and ‘’Theory and Methods of AI.’’ The program will also feature keynote presentations from globally recognized academics. Over the course of the four-day program, there will be an industry and an academic panel, aimed at sparking dialogues. Additionally, the Hi! PARIS Engineering Team will conduct sessions providing practical research tips, further enriching the learning experience.

*Call for Participation 2024 Summer School on AI Technologies for Trust, Interoperability, Autonomy and Resilience in Industry 4.0*

We invite PhD students, academics, and researcher staff from academia and industry to apply to the Summer School on AI Technologies for Trust, Interoperability, Autonomy and Resilience in Industry 4.0 (henceforth AI4Industry).

The summer school aims to teach the state of the art of the use of AI technologies and models to tackle the challenges of data revolution and to increase automation of cognitive tasks to develop a trustful and resilient Industry 4.0 (or Industry of the Future). The summer school is organized around concrete industry problems structured as use cases. These use cases aim to stimulate the discussion at the academic institutions toward addressing real-world problems and to showcase innovative solutions to industrial partners.

During the summer school, participants attend lectures of AI technologies and carry out practical exercises dedicated to applying these technologies to solve concrete industry problems. The summer school addresses various aspects of AI in Industry with a particular emphasis on:

* Web of Things
* Knowledge Graphs
* Multi-Agent Systems
* Trustworthy and Responsible AI

Half of the summer school is dedicated to practical work (through a hackathon) while the other half is meant to introduce the theoretical foundations underlying the hackathon’s framework.
