The tentative start data is February 2020.

Sujet :
A large part of the scientific community considers ontologies as one of the potential solutions to data sharing and interoperability issues. Ontologies allow to structure and represent knowledge about the world and domain-specific knowledge to enable computer systems and all actors (objects, services, and people) to understand data and reason logically. An ontology allows humans, computer systems and machines to understand domain-specific concepts through common vocabulary and semantics that express the logic of the relationships between these concepts. However, ontologies as key solution of interoperability, in general they are not interoperable. The postholder will pursue research to study the interoperability of ontologies through a standardized methodology in order to build a bottom-up and top-down ontology alignment approach in the same domain and in cross-domain.

Profil du candidat :
– PhD in engineering (or have submitted a PhD thesis prior to taking up the appointment)
– Relevant experience as ontologist
– Good Knowledge of top-level ontologies (especially BFO)
– Previous experience in domain ontologies development
– Good Knowledge of semantic Web technologies
– Excellent communication skills
– Capable working independently and as a part of the team
